Airdrie Academy War Heroes

In memory of James Tweedie, Former Pupil.

James Tweedie served with 156 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve in WWII and lost his life when his plane flying out of RAF Warboys Cambridgeshire, an Avro Lancaster Mk III, EE122, crashed at Selten-Braunsrath Germany.He was shot down by night fighter pilot Hauptmann Manfred Meurer of the 3./NJG 1, flying a Bf 110 G-4 from Venlo airfield, the Netherlands.
